About the Course
Learn how to develop your own Medicare home risk assessment business with the Elite Nurse Practitioner and Monea Williams, FNP. This service can be started as a standalone practice or integrated into an already established practice. These assessments are relatively simple to do if you know your way around these systems, and we are here to help you become an expert in this field. It’s possible for you to take control of the entire clinical and administrative risk assessment process, putting money in your pocket and eliminating the middle man.
This course is designed for the nurse practitioner who is looking to start a high revenue, low expense, and a low barrier to entry practice. These services can also be integrated into an existing practice, opening another profitable revenue stream. Medicare home risk assessment is a needed service that will only grow as our population ages and begins utilizing Medicare.
This course is the only Medicare home risk assessment curriculum on the market that is designed specifically for nurse practitioners. This course will teach the astute nurse practitioner both the medical and business aspects of this niche service.
Insurance companies and private practices are in serious need of providers that are well versed in the risk assessment process. When performed strategically, these assessments can lead to increased Medicare reimbursement rates per patient. The sicker the patient, the more Medicare will pay for their care. This in turn increases the revenue of both the insurance companies and private practices, especially primary care clinics. This entire process generates high value and revenue, and NPs can play a crucial role.
Your job as a home risk assessment nurse practitioner is to identify all comorbidities a patient has and assign diagnosis codes to each condition, which are used to calculate a risk adjustment score. After the visit, the documentation is submitted for reimbursement and Medicare can now allocate appropriate resources to the patient. This is a necessary service for elderly patients with many complex health needs, and makes for an excellent business opportunity for the astute nurse practitioner entrepreneur.
The benefits of starting this type of practice or integrating these services into your established practice are numerous: these services are cheap to provide, easy to learn, and have minimal associated liability. Medicare home risk assessment is a lean business that results in healthy revenue and high profits for business owners. A true win-win!
This course is designed for the nurse practitioner with zero experience in risk assessment. We will teach you all the necessary steps for starting this type of practice, in addition to the “need to know” clinical components of this care model.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will I have unlimited access to this course?
You can access this course however many times you want for however long you want. All Elite Nurse Practitioner Courses are pre-recorded and accessible indefinitely.
Will this course teach me how to secure risk assessment contracts?
We cover the process for acquiring contracts from insurance companies so they can begin referring patients to you. The process is simple!
What kind of nurse practitioner can do this?
FNPs, ANPs, GNPs, WHNPs, and ACNPs can perform these Medicare home assessments. PMHNPs can in certain states and under certain insurance plans. This would be something you would need to talk to your insurance credentialer about to ensure you can secure the contracts if you are a PMHNP. PNPs can't perform Medicare assessments because they are used for older patients.
How long does it take to start a Medicare home risk assessment business?
Typically, it will take around three months minimum to get started. The biggest factor here is insurance credentialing and securing risk assessment contracts. Once that is done, it is smooth sailing!
Do I need a special certification to do this?
No! You just need to be a licensed nurse practitioner and be credentialed with insurance companies.
Will this course cover marketing?
Yes and no. This course covers the basics of this business, but the great thing about this practice is that most clients are referred to you by their insurance company. Therefore, marketing is not usually necessary.
Do I need a physician collaborator?
Only if your state requires this. Some states allow nurse practitioners to do this independently. Some states will require a physician collaborator. It ultimately comes down to each insurance company’s’ rules and regulations, so be sure to discuss this with an insurance representative before starting up your practice.
I already own a practice. Would this course benefit me?
Absolutely! If you are looking for a high profit revenue stream for your practice, then this would be a great addition. If you operate an insurance-accepting practice, then integrating this into your practice could prove to be valuable.
Will you cover the ins and outs of insurance billing and coding?
Absolutely! The bread and butter of this service line is billing and coding appropriately and this course covers that in detail.
Will this offer CME?
This course offers 6 CE hours. The Elite Nurse Practitioner is credentialed as a CEU provider through the ANCC. CEU awarded through The Elite Nurse Practitioner applies to ANCC, AANP, and all boards of nursing.
Will this course provide a certificate of completion?
A certificate is issued at the end of the course that will display the CEU hours and verify your completion of this course. This certificate can also be used for insurance reimbursement or as a tax write off.

Makenzie L: Justin is a phenomenal mentor! He is truly paving the way for NPs across the US. Without the Elite NP group I never would’ve felt confident enough to even remotely consider branching out on my own. Looking back over a year ago to where I am now it’s just astounding. I’m so thankful I stumbled across this page! Thank you Justin and all the other NPs for the ongoing support.
Morgan H: I have taken about 7 courses and I love every single one of them ! I have learned so much that I didn’t even learn in NP school! Thank you for honest teaching and giving everything needed to open our business, and encouraging us to step to freedom.
Angie B: I love Elite NP info and courses, but in addition, it has been really easy to communicate with Justin for any questions, concerns, etc. Since learning about Elite NP and engaging in the Facebook group, I have connected with so many other NPs with similar goals and the support has been incredible.
Hi, I'm Justin Allan MSN FNP
I am the owner and author of The Elite Nurse Practitioner, one of the hottest blogs for nurse practitioners who want to break free from the shackles of modern healthcare.
I have been practicing as an NP for 7 years. I have worked all over the country and in many different settings. I became sick of working for others and not earning what I knew what was possible and fair. So, I decided to venture out on my own.
I now own multiple successful side practices and businesses as an NP. My goal is to share the knowledge I have learned and developed to my fellow NP colleagues so you can reach a level of success that very few NPs will ever achieve. It is possible to build profitable practices and businesses as a nurse practitioner! Do not let anyone else tell you otherwise!
